One morning as the prophet Jeremiah awoke the Lord told him to go to the potter’s shop. Being an obedient man, Jeremiah did as he was instructed. When he arrived he found the potter molding a vessel on his potter’s wheel, but as Jeremiah watched the potter made a mistake and marred the vessel. But instead of crying, fretting, or vexing over the damaged vessel the potter simply rolled the clay into a ball and started over.
As the new vessel began to take shape under the potter’s hands, the Lord said to Jeremiah, “O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel” (Jeremiah 18:6).
Sometimes we, like the potter, make mistakes, but if we waste time lamenting, worrying, or pitying ourselves we only do more damage. When we Live in Truth we realize that mistakes, sins, adversity happen but in the next moment instead of vexing we need to simply move on and trust in the Lord. We are in His hands and we simply let Him direct us as to what should be done next. We let God take over!
As Psalm 25:12 teaches, “What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.”
