I discovered after yesterday’s post that I had written about the Truth Test before. I just couldn’t find it. But repetition is good.
Like I said yesterday, the Truth Test is especially good for long-term vexation and especially powerful if you write out your feelings and answers. But once you’ve used the Truth Test and learned the questions, it does work for daily vexation to ask yourself the questions in the order they come and ponder the answers. Usually I find myself laughing at myself as I realize that I am out of truth and into illusion. Other times I do get all the way to the last question and then am able to change.
The most important thing about the Truth Test is to use it. I know it sounds like a simple solution to a big problem, but it really works. Try it and then email me and let me know your story.

The Truth Test
I don’t know how I have missed explaining the Truth Test all this time, but a kind reader who had heard me speak about Living in Truth e-mailed me the other day to say she couldn’t find the Truth Test in past posts. The Truth Test is crucial to Living in Truth, but somehow I guess I’ve never talked about it on Good News! So today I’m going to rectify that.
The Truth Test is a powerful Truth Tool that works on daily frustrations but is extra powerful in healing deep seated pain such as what comes from abuse and traumatic experiences. It works best if you actually write out all that you feel (explain all the pain) and then also write the answers to the questions. Just thinking through the answers can be helpful for daily vexation, but the power for healing long existing pain comes from getting the thoughts out of your head and onto paper. If you don’t want anyone to read what you write, burn it after you write it. But WRITE it. I’ll explain more tomorrow, but for today here is the Truth Test.

Down With Worry!
Problems and worries are like a pesky fly that you shake off but it just buzzes around and lands on you again. The buzzing is as annoying as the tickle when it lands, but the point is that no matter how you try to concentrate on something else or to not think about the fly, it is always buzzing. Problems and worries are the same.
But there is a secret that helps get rid of them like a flyswatter gets rid of a fly. Write down your problems. It is a worry swatter. When something keeps running through your mind so that you can’t concentrate on other things and you feel the worry sending its tentacles of fear through you, stop and write down in as much detail as you can what you are feeling and why. Then step back and notice how the worry is now out of you and on the paper. It is a like a Sudoku puzzle just sitting there waiting to be solved. Then go about your day leaving the worry on the paper.
Worrying never brings a solution. Worry only pushes you into the Pit of Illusion. Time and inspiration bring solutions. By writing things down, we get the static worry creates out of our heads. And with the worry gone it is surprising how solutions present themselves to the cleared out mind—the mind that is Living in Truth.

The Truth Test
One of the most effective ways to get rid of bad feelings (Unnecessary Pain) is to put it to the Truth Test. (Attached below.) You begin by writing out what you are feeling and why. Jealousy, anger, grudges, or any other bad feelings (Unnecessary Pain) can be chased away by writing. This is the purpose of the first step in the Truth Test and why it is important to write it out and not just think it. Tell the story you are harboring in as much detail as possible on paper (use as many pages as you need) and then put it through the questions of the Truth Test.
There is something cathartic about scrutinizing your feelings enough to put them into words and then committing them to paper. That is why the Truth Test is so powerful. Often feelings build in us like lava in a volcano and we don’t realize that we are fueling the fire or even where the fire is coming from. But as we sort through the matter and write it down we find the heat cooling and the steam evaporating. With the new perspective a light comes that helps us see the situation in different ways. I find that I often end up laughing at myself. Without the fire to fuel the lava, the situation looks so benign I wonder where the heat came from in the first place!
Just start to write and then put down on paper everything your heart is telling you and watch what happens. Keep writing until all the steam has escaped. After you are finished put the story through the questions of the Truth Test and feel the Unnecessary Pain seep out of your soul.
It works!
