I Found More Books to Give Away

I don't have very many of my children's books left, but I was cleaning out a closet and found I had a few of the Steppingstone series I wrote for Deseret Book. These were small picture books (like Berenstien Bear books) with one Book of Mormon story in each book. There were twelve books in the series, but I only have a few left. The two I have to give away this week are the story of Nephi and Lehi in Prison.

They'd make a great gift for grandchildren or children for Christmas. If you'd like to be in the drawing for one of these books, please leave a comment about how you feel about the Book of Mormon. The contest will close at midnight on Friday and I'll post the winner on Saturday!

Good luck! I can't wait to read what you have to say!

That sounds so wonderful! I would love some new scripture stories to share with my kids! My children amaze me. They love to read the animated stories of the scriptures. Their favorite ones are the ones you can get from the distribution center. When I was a child they were so beneath me. I love that they love them. The stories and lessons learned are priceless!

I love in the Book of Mormon that they never give up. The wars, Gadianton Robbers, falling away over and over again, but they kept on trying. The Sons of Helaman and Captain Moroni are my 2 favorite heroes.(Actually, I guess that would be 2001 heroes):-)

I love the Book of Mormon because it truly testifies of Christ. Each page of the Book of Mormon talks about his life, mission and love for us. When I read the Book of Mormon, I feel close to my Savior because it is a record of his life and teachings.

I love reading you little post about good things, it helps with my perspective. Thank you! I love teaching the Book of Mormon to my primary class and I know the book is a true scripture of our Heavenly Father. I need to do better about reading for my personal study. There is always a want to do better. I am so grateful I belong to a church that always me to repent daily, sometimes hourly, if I need to. Thank you!

I love the Book of Mormon! I love the testimony that it continually gives of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I appreciate the simple and deep lessons that it teaches me for the sole purpose of drawing me closer to my Heavenly Father and His Son.

I also appreciate your words and your example that make me want to be better.

We know the scriptures are the Word of God. To me the Book of Mormon is literally my "Iron Rod" and I try with my might to hold onto it every morning because I know it will lead me safely to my Savior, even the Prince of Peace, who is coming again soon to the Earth to save us all!

The Book of Mormon has God's fingerprints all over them! The promise made by prophet Joseph Smith is true. One will come closer to God by abiding the precepts taught in the Book of Mormon then by reading any other book. I reached out for God's hand...and He reached back to me in the Book of Mormon. The Book has changed my life!!

I was just thinking about how the Book of Mormon stories have been so much more meaningful to me this year. I feel I am gaining so much insight than I ever have before and maybe it's because I am growing more accustomed to the stories and they are solidifying or maybe it's because I have been more in tune with letting it work in my life. Love it! I would also love the books for my kiddies!

(Aubrey said it perfectly in her comments).
I love the Book of Mormon, especially the second half. I know part of the reason is because I was able to take the class at BYU and develop a greater understanding and feel the Spirit, thank you to your talents as a teacher and your love of the Book of Mormon, it is contagious! I have a couple of small children's books with Book of Mormon stories and a couple of videos and my grandchildren love them.

I had just read one verse this morning as I ran out the door to take my son to school. The one verse I happened upon told me to teach of Christ and the Atonement. I can not recall the exact verse, yet I believe it is in Mosiah. Needless to say my thoughts this morning have been on how I could better teach my children of the sacrifices of Christ and how to focus more gospel discussions with my 6 and 3 year old. (The one year old just listens to the Spirit around the discussion!) This book would be a great conversation starter. If what you have written is a tenth as inspiring as your posts I will be full-(Spiritually speaking).

Every day I read one of my favorite scriptures in the Book of Mormon!

Today, it was in Alma 48 -- "[Captain} Moroni was a strong and mighty man; he was a man of a perfect understanding; yea a man that did not delight in bloodshed; a man whose soul did joy in the liberty and the freedom of his country, and his brethren from bondage and slavery;"

"Yea, a man whose heart did swell with thankgsgiving to his God, for the many privileges and blessings which he bestowed upon his people; a man who did labor exceedingly for the welfare and safety of his people."

"Yea, and he was a man who was firm in the faith of Christ, and he had sworn with an oath to defend his people, his rights, and his country, and his religion, even to the loss of his blood."

And so "the Nephites were taught to defend themselves against their enemies, even to the shedding of blood if it were necessary; yea, and they were taught never to give offense, yea, and never to raise the sword except it were against an enemy, except it were to preserve their lives."

If the Nephites honored their covenants and God's commandments they would prosper in the land and God would warn them to flee or to prepare for war, according to the danger. Anyway, this was the Faith of Moroni -- not in shedding blood but in doing good, in preserving his people, in keeping the commandments, and resisting iniquity.

This is my favorite part, verse 17:

"Yea, verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men."

The Book of Mormon brings peace into my soul every time I read its words. I know it is true. I know that the principles contained within its pages are true principles. I know that it is another testament of Jesus Christ.
